LO U15 Victory in Coquitlam!

Our U15 boys just defeated Vancouver Island Selects 10-3 on a beautiful BC morning. They took off to a 4-0 first half lead with 2 goals from Winter and one each from Hoch and Patterson. In the second half the LO scoring continued with 3 goals from Swanson, two from Seashore and one from Dales.

Our defense played tough the whole game with some excellent saves by Duletzke and Cheek in goal and our poles tormenting the Vancouver transition. Kritschgau won most of his face-offs, with some fabulous help from his wing guys ... especially Pritchard. Russell "Lefty" Seashore was awarded with player of the game.

The U15 guys face Burnaby Mountain Selects at 1:30pm. This U15 team went 3-3 in the Denver high school team camp two weeks ago ... against elite high school teams. These guys are hand-picked from across BC as a college lacrosse feeder program. This will be the team to beat. Stay tuned for more excitement from the World Youth Invitational in Coquitlam.

Happenings in Coquitlam

The Australian team did an amazing job hanging with the Iroquois Nationals in pool play today. The Australian fans were raucous as the chanted "we are not worthy" in their excitement of challenging the revered Six Nations team. Throughout the game their inflatable Kangaroo mascots stood tall. However, in the end our own Portland LumberJax Peter Jacobs helped seal the Iroquois win with a couple of beautiful goals.

The Canada - Japan game this evening was considerably more lop-sided. While the typical Canadian starts playing lacrosse shortly after their first steps, half the Japanese team started when they were 16, the other half started when they were 19. Given that this is the U19 World Championship ... they must have just started playing before they came over. We did get to see Canada's head coach in action. Yes that's 3X NCAA All-America, 3X NCAA DI National Champion, 6X NLL MVP and on and on. If you want to see even more of Gary Gait check out his Gamebreaker youth camp in Portland at OES next week.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's U15 action. I'll update the blog as soon as I can get a connection. The boy's first game is against Vancouver Island Selects at 10:30am and their second game is against Burnaby Mountain Selects at 1:30pm.
